I'm still trying to make sense of the #7 pick. Any idea if they had any offers to trade down?
12:58
jerrymac -  From what Cable said, they didn't want to take the chance they'd lose Heyward-Bey by trading down and even considered trading up. Really.

HOW DO U FEEL ABOUT FRANTZ JOSEPH?
12:59
jerrymac -  Undrafted free agent, and as such will be hoping to make the team as a special teams player but is certainly no lock to do so. I realize people like to think of the best possible scenarios, but the reality is most undrafted players were not drafted for a reason.

12:59
jerrymac -  Not to my kmowledge. We'll see May 8.

A lot of us Raider fans are scratching our heads after this weekend. For me, it's mostly because I think they could have drafted both the top two players they got much later and traded down, got more picks in the process. Any insight on that?
1:01
jerrymac -  That's my feeling and the main problem with their draft. I don't pretend to be a talent scout. Heyward-Bey was going to be a first-round pick, and the way the Raiders are getting trashed, you'd think they took a seventh-FA pick at NO. 7.

Are the Raiders really going into next season with one veteran WR (Walker), who is anything but reliable, to go with Murphy, DHB, JLH, Schillins, and Arman Shields? Seems a little risky when you have such a young QB
1:02
jerrymac -  Cable said Sunday that Murphy's selction makes it unlikely they'd look for a veteran to bring in. If they decide to cut ties with Walker at some point, it would be a smart move to bring in a veteran who is willing to work with young receivers, I think. Easier said than done, however. Most receivers aren't of a mind to watch.

I read that the Raiders were looking to trade Fargas during the draft. Does this mean the trade rumors about Bush should end now and the coaching staff is finally realizing that they need to give Bush more carries?
1:03
jerrymac -

The trade rumors shouldn't end because if teams are asking about Bush _ which they were _ then there is always the chance they could make a huge offer the Raiders would not turn down. That's probably how they came down, teams called about Bush, the Raiders countered with Fargas, and still probably wanted more in return.

Jerry - do you think the raiders will make a run at Larry Foote? I think he could seriously help shore up the run game. Also, Cable said he was okay with the o-line as is. I think they still need help. What about Levi Brown?
1:04
jerrymac -  He's a 3-4 OLB in Pittsburgh. They're pretty serious about going young, so I think first they want to see Norris and Sulak play.

So bedsides the multiple questions about DHB and Mike Mitch, what about Slade and Stryker? Besides their comic book names, which has a better chance at being SAM Backer?
1:06
jerrymac -

Whichever one plays better. Sulak seems to have the better SAM backer size.

EVERBODY ASSUMES THE RAIDERS COULD HAVE TRADED DOWN TO GET HDB IM LATER FIRST ROUND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TRADE PARTNER AND I HAVENT HEARD ANY TEAM WILLING TO TRADE UP FOR THE PICK YOUR THOUGHTS JERRY
1:07
jerrymac -  You might be right, but Cable was pretty adamant about Heyward-Bey being their guy and not wanting to lose him . . . there is always a trade partner if the offer is good. The Raiders tend to ask for a lot in trades.
