Jason Sickles/Editor -  Thanks for joining us today. Columnist Steve Blow will be with us shortly. Please feel free to submitted advanced questions or comments.

Steve Blow/Columnist -  Welcome to the first-ever smack-down over Dallas' Top 10 celebrities.

It has been fun reading comments to the column and my e-mail today. Some of you have very strong feelings. And that's what makes this fun.

You left off Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimmie Vaughan.
11:33
Steve Blow/Columnist -  John, thanks for getting us started. And you raise a name that has probably had the most passion around it in all the feedback. Even Jack Floyd, who is sitting in the next cubicle, is miffed that I didn't include the great SRV.

But remember, this isn't about people we admire. It's an attempt at naming the people with Dallas roots with the greatest celebrity/fame around the world.

Do you really think Stevie Ray is widely known outside his loyal fan base?

[Comment From Daniel Hexter]
The great late Johnny Taylor also lived in Dallas, but was better known in other cities.
11:35
Steve Blow/Columnist -  Daniel, that's a name that actually hasn't come up till now. So congrats on that. But again, would you put Johnny Taylor in an all-time Top 10 list?

This isn't about simply naming every celebrity to come out of Dallas. It's about making the fun, hard decisions of where people rank in terms of celebrity.
11:36
Steve Blow/Columnist -  Give me a second to go find a great list that came in on reader comments. It's of Dallas' "smallest celebrities."
11:39
Steve Blow/Columnist -  Kudos to "Aardvark" for this one:

You are correct- Johnny Taylor would probably have to be on a much longer list.

[Comment From John]
Dan, thanks for remembering Johnny Taylor. My wife had the misfortune of being on duty at the Charlton ER when he passed.
