jamisonhensley -  We'll get started in about 10 minutes. Hope everyone is taking some time to rest up during the bye week and getting ready for the undefeated Broncos.

[Comment From Ken Rictor]
Jamison I am lost with the secondary. Is it confusion, play calling, effort, lack of team play, lack of skill, lack of height? Can it REALLY be corrected?
1:00
jamisonhensley -  Ok. Let's do a half-hour of some Ravens chatting.

jamisonhensley -  Ken ... I was worried about the secondary before the season started. I felt that the Ravens overpaid for Foxworth when he wasn't established. The problem is Foxworth and Fabian Washington are two similar corners. They are both fast, cover defenders. I thought they would struggle with bigger receivers. That's what has happened.

[Comment From Craig]
People keep throwing around that Webb might be thrown in on defense more often now. Any truth to this?
1:03
jamisonhensley -  Craig ... I expect Webb will get more playing time at nickel over Carr. If he plays well, Webb could get a shot at being a starting corner. Remember Washington is in a contract year. My feeling is the long-term plan is having Webb take over for Washington next year as the starting CB opposite Foxworth.

[Comment From Flynn]
Is it just me, or does it appear that, with the exceptions of Ngata, Suggs, and maybe a few others, that this entire defense is going to have to be done over, starting this off-season? I dont think you can even count R. Lewis (age) and Reed (lingering injury issues) as long-term answers. Does the Denver model (practically a whole new defense from last season) provide hope?

jamisonhensley -  Flynn ... The Dever model is the exception. I am shocked how the Broncos gutted that defense and put together such a dominating group. A lot of credit has to go to former Ravens DC Mike Nolan. As for the Ravens, I don't think this defense needs a similar makeover. Next season, the Ravens will figure out what to do at the one linebacker spot (not sure if Gooden is the answer to replace Bart), strong safety (not sure if Dawan Landry is the same Dawan Landry since the injury) and defensive end (not sure if Trevor Pryce is an every-down player). Those are the pressing needs.

How much will schemes designed to prevent isolation of the Corner Backs affect the ability to stop the run and is the tradeoff worth it. I beileve some drop off in run defense is probably worth the negation of the big plays allowed through the air. What is your take ?
