Jason Nark - That was defintely a factor. Property taxes were the number one issue and the homestead rebate hurt voters in this economy. The homestead is not a long-term solution though.

do you really thing the property tax in nj is going to go down? in the last four year my tax went up each year,

Jason Nark - I don't think there will be any major changes in property taxes, unless the legislature is willing to make some major changes on how the state is taxed and how school districts are financed.

My wife and I were excluded from the Homestead rebate this year because we were among the "rich", making 40k and 42k respectively. Paying $5200 a year for a 3 br 1 1/2 ba bungalow in South Jersey before even touching the mortgage or turning on a light is outrageous.

Jason Nark - I believe the cut off for the rebate this year was $75,000. In New Jersey, as you know, that's not exactly wealthy if you own a home.
