- Former State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo will resume his testimony this morning. The prosecution should begin their cross-examination of Fumo later today. Fumo attorney Dennis Cogan yesterday indicated he had about an hour left of direct examination.

- Cogan asked Fumo about his reaction to an Inquirer article from Nov. 23, 2003, that revealed that PECO gave money to the nonprofit Citizens' Alliance, but not how much. Fumo said he was upset. He said PECO did not want that information out in public. He said he did not ask PECO to keep quiet.

- On Jan. 25, 2004, the Inquirer published an article that said the FBI was investigating Fumo's dealings with Verizon. "It was like a punch in the stomach," Fumo said.

- Fumo said his Senate lawyer, Christopher Craig, is a "natural pessimist" and was getting boxes ready for a subpoena. But Richard Sprague, Fumo's longtime lawyer friend, told Fumo not to sweat the article, Fumo said.

- Fumo, in response to a Mar 8, 2004 request for information from an Inquirer reporter, suggested that his office provide the information to the reporter since authorities had not yet interviewed anyone in his office or issued a subpoena for records. The reporter was asking questions because the newspaper had learned that PECO had received a subpoena for records.
