NCAA Wrestling, Round 2

7:23
125-pounder Rollie Peterkin punched his ticket to the quarterfinals with his 6-3 win over No. 9 seed Tyler Clark of Iowa State. He will face No. 1 seed Paul Donahoe of Edinboro tomorrow. Donahoe posted a 33-0 record this season, including a 15-5 win over Peterkin in the Quakers' dual against the Fighting Scots.
7:34
Next up for Penn will be Scott Giffin at 174 pounds. He will be wrestling a second round championship bracket match against No. 7 seed Mike Miller of Central Michigan.
7:43
Because Peterkin is done for the day and McLean and Dragon have been eliminated, there are three Quakers wrestlers still wrestling today. Cesar Grajales is still alive in the 149 pound weightclass consolation bracket, Rick Rappo is waiting to wrestle his first consolation match at 141 and Scott Giffin is about to wrestle a second round match in the 174 pound championship bracket. More updates will follow when Giffin wrestles.
7:44
Giffin just got called on deck on mat 4. He will be up soon.
7:47
A testy moment just occurred as Joseph Knox of Tennessee-Chattanooga pushed his opponent, No. 2 seed Michael Poeta of Illinois, violently out of bounds and into a table in the second period of their second round match at 157 pounds. The crowd showed their displeasure with a chorus of boos.
7:50
Poeta just won the match 16-6.
7:52
The crowd has lost a little bit of its black and yellow tinge, but Iowa fans still predominate. Oklahoma State fans, clad in bright orange, are trying to make their voices heard, litterally. I'm sitting right next to a huge section of Okie fans and I can say definitively that they really, really care about their team.
7:54
It's now time for Scott Giffin's second round match against No. 7 seed Miller of Central Michigan. Giffin is looking to make it two upsets in a row after beating the No. 10 seed last round.
7:55
Giffin looks confident. He looks focused. Lets see how it plays out.
7:56
Giffin has come out very aggressively, shooting very early into the first period. And it looks to be paying off, as he has Miller's leg. No dice, out of bounds, back to neutral.
