Crappy Hour with Latoya Peterson, July 2, 2009

8:44
LatoyaPeterson -  So, do I need to call an ambulance for you, or what?
8:46
Megan -  This Crappy Hour will indeed be crappy, as it's coming to you live from the depths of my bed where I lie currently with a massive migraine.
8:46
LatoyaPeterson -  Aww, dude.   You are such a soldier. I would have called in sick.
8:48
LatoyaPeterson -  And perhaps you should have...did you see the headlines this morning?   Depress-o-rama.
8:48
Megan -  I called in sick to this one time, when I had a nasty stomach virus and spent 4 or 5 hours prior to it vomiting. But let's not talk about that, as it remains a possibility this morning. The news is a good distraction.
8:49
LatoyaPeterson -  I suppose, if you like things shrouded in death.
8:49
LatoyaPeterson -  Want to start with death of the economy, death of the GOP, or war related death?
8:50
Megan -  When I have a migraine, misery loves company. So, the end of the GOP sounds good to me.
8:51
LatoyaPeterson -  Sadly, the GOP has lost the Jews.
8:52
LatoyaPeterson -
Ira Forman, CEO of the National Jewish Democratic Council, said the sharp drop in the number of Jewish Republicans in Congress paralleled the party's shift to the right. "It's a reflection of where the Republican Party has gone," he said. "It's left the Jewish community pretty cold."
8:52
Megan -  Well, once they lost Hispanics, women and African Americans, Jews were the next logical choice to chase off.
8:53
LatoyaPeterson -  Once again, the "let's just tolerate the racists" strategy is an epic fail.
8:53
LatoyaPeterson -  But even the highs weren't that high:

Republicans have had at least one Jewish senator since New York's Jacob Javits took office in 1957, reaching a peak of three during the mid-1980s.
8:54
LatoyaPeterson -  Now, we are talking senators here, but still...
8:55
Megan -  Oooh, 3 whole Jews! I mean, with JC Watts, they even had an African-American Senator that time.
8:56
LatoyaPeterson -  The GOP is also eating their own.   Apparently there is a memo linking Bush and Obama.
8:56
LatoyaPeterson -  The common link?   They're trying to blame them both for the economy.
8:58
Megan -  Do you think Dick Cheney will do a round of interviews in defense of his legacy slamming them over that? Because I'd get out of bed to watch that shit, for real.
8:59
LatoyaPeterson -  LOL - maybe he and roly-poly Rove will do a tag-team C-Span event/cage match.
9:02
Megan -  Rove will next call the rest of the GOP "ingrates" as he did the new Administration on Twitter, and it'll be on. I mean, of course Obama's not exactly grateful at the mess he inherited!
