Did you watch Pedro last night and what were your impressions?
12:04
Dan Duquette -  My impressions were that Pedro didn't have great stuff so he had to trick the Yankees to get him out. It didn't look like he could get loose. Matsui stood right up on the plate and he was daring him to throw inside

How important is the exclusive negotiating period when you have a free agent?
12:06
Dan Duquette -  It depends on who the free agent is. Usually when you get to the end of the line and the player has played out his option -- like Jason Bay -- it's the player's interest to wait and see what their market is. They've played out their option, elected not to re-sign with the team and now they want to find out what their value is and they can't find out unless they talk to the other clubs

Dan, how hard should the Sox go after Halladay in the off season? Do you think he's still available?
12:08
Dan Duquette -  The Red Sox need to address some of their other issues before addressing the pitching issues. They still have some pitching depth. I think the Red Sox made a bid at the last trading deadline for Roy Halladay, offering to give up a lot of talent for him and I don't if that's their thinking today.

Has the Sports Academy evolved like you thought it would?
12:10
Dan Duquette -  The Sports Academy started out as a sports camp and that's what we wanted to try and decvelop first. What has really blossomed for the sports academy are the AAU travel teams, where teams come and spend four or five days. That has really blossomed. The tournaments have really become a staple for the camp. They are very popular.

The GM Meetings are coming up next week. Do you remember any instances where a deal got done at the GM Meetings
12:12
Dan Duquette -  We laid the groundwork for the Pedro Martinez trade to bring him to Montreal at the GM Meetings. Eddie Haas and I met with Fred Claire, who was looking to get a second baseman. We had identified two young pitchers on the Dodgers we liked, they were Pedro Astacio and Pedro Martinez. So that's groudnwork was laid at the GM Meetings in Arizona.

Would you want to get back into Major League Baseball, and if so in what capacity?
12:13
Dan Duquette -  I'm currently trying to get back into Major League Baseball and I'm open to a number of different capacities. I'm trying to get affiliated with MLB right now

Who would you rather have take the mound in a big game? Pedro from 99'-00' seasons or Clemens from 86'-87' seasons?
12:15
Dan Duquette -  Interesting question. That was when both pitchers were in their prime. Both Clemens and Pedro were arguably the top two pitichers in the history of the Red Sox. The quality of Martinez' work over seven years, if you look at it closely, is better than Clemens. Clemens strong suit was durability. Martinez was more of a shooting star.   Personally, Pedro Martine is my favorite player of all-time because he had so many great qualities and not only does he have great stuff but he has charisma
12:18
Dan Duquette -  I watched Pedro the day before and he can really speak, a great command of the language. I was happy he was pitching, I was just disappointed he didn't have better stuff. He pitched a really good game aginast the Yankees in Game 2. To me that was the key game of the Series. Pedro is a great pitcher, but the Yankees are professional hitters who really wore him down. I think Game 2 was really a missled opportunity. Matsui got him for hte home run and that proved to be the difference in the Series. What Chad Gaudin was doing in the game last night I have no idea. He might show up in the 17th or 18th inning, but I'm not sure he should show up in an elimatnion game.
