CBCSports.ca - Jesse -  Great to be here. Sorry for the double post. Still getting a hang of these computer things.

CBCSports.ca - Jesse -  We'll try to get to as many questions/comments as we can, so please be patient and keep 'em coming.

CBCSports.ca - Jesse -  I'll get the ball rolling with the hot topic of the day. Gretzky steps down in Phoenix, ending a pretty miserable tenure with the Coyotes. Tyler, your thoughts on Gretzky the coach?

Whadda day! You plan an Oilers preview and the whole hockey world flips upside down

Tyler Dellow -  This will come up again if and when we talk about the new Oilers' coaches, but I'm not really a big believer in coaching making a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.   If you get hired by an NHL team, you're almost certainly above a certain threshold of competence and I think that the difference between the best and the worst is pretty small.

[Comment From Mike W]
Was his tenure miserable? They didn't exactly assemble anything close to a good team, at least for the first three years of Gretzky's contract.

Tyler Dellow -  In Gretzky's case specifically, he's probably best described as "competent, but nothing special."

CBCSports.ca - Jesse -  Yeah, it's like they say in football: It's the Bobbys and Joes, not the X's and O's. They didn't give Gretzky much to work with.
