Andy Ayres -

Before we get started, bone up on the 2009-10 Nuggets with some DEN preview content from ESPN.com:

Justin Verrier, ESPN.com -  Chauncey Billups gave Melo and the Nuggets exactly what they needed last season. With high expectations in Denver this season, can the Nugs duplicate the success? ESPN.com's John Hollinger and Jeremy Wagner of RoundballMiningCompany.com stop by at 2 p.m. ET to discuss.

Jeremy - RMC -

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by.  This is Jeremy from the TrueHoop Network Nuggets blog Roundball Mining Company.  We are very fortunate to have Professor Hollinger joining us because there is no national media member who has a better understanding of the Nuggets.

Lets get started!

[Comment From Missing Lynx]
Will Renaldo Balkman be Carmelo's primary backup at SF, finally seeing that consistent 15-22 mpg? How does he fit in to the Nuggets plans this season?

Jeremy - RMC -  Missing Lynx, I think the battle for minutes at the small forward spot behind Melo is going to come down to Balkman and Joey Graham.  Graham has the ability to hit the 18 footer that Balkman lacks and George Karl wants to see from his SF, but Balkman is going to get minutes.  Between time at small forward and power forward I think we see Balkman on the floor for right around 15 minutes a night.

[Comment From cody (Brooklyn via Denver]
hey guys, for the last six years every NBA analyst has said that 'Melo needs to step up and become a leader out on the floor, in the locker room, and off the court. But no one really ever describes what they mean by 'leader' in detail. Please describe how an NBA team leader acts on and off the court. THANKS!!!!

John Hollinger -  Greetings all.

Jeremy - RMC -  Cody, I think what everyone wants to see from Melo when it comes to leadership is for him to show the same passion on both ends of the floor.  Once your teammates see you working hard at everything you need to do and getting the job done, that is when a player can begin to be a vocal leader and have his comments carry some clout.  Melo is close to getting there, but he still needs to add some more effort on the defensive end.
