hi

- Hi.
There's been plenty of activity in the early stages of the Hot Stove. Really, it's tough to remember a series of moves that have been this significant prior to the GM Meetings.

- Hermida's acquisition, Wakefield's and Varitek's returns, declined options on a bunch of guys, free agency for others...

Red Sox: Sign Jason Bay, Billy Wagner, trade Buchholz, Bard, Westmorland, and anyone else (Besides anyone on the MLB roster) for King Felix.

- I think that's asking a bit much... As a guess, I would be surprised if the Mariners dealt King Felix if they determined there was any chance of signing him long-term. And the team doesn't have THAT much payroll flexibility, so you're shooting a bit high.

What would you say the odds of the Red Sox releasing either Big Papi or Mike Lowell are? Also, I interpret “John Lackey” to be 2009-speak for “Matt Clement”, thoughts? Thank you.

- I would say there is approximately zero chance of the Sox releasing Lowell or Ortiz. Both have significant financial commitments, but both also produced at the plate last year. In many ways, they would've been an incredibly productive DH platoon.

- It's also worth noting they're both in the last year of their contracts, so there's no reason to release guys who could be helpful. That said, Theo has said that improved defense is a priority, and Lowell -- following surgery -- represented the team's biggest defensive shortcoming last year (after Lugo's departure)

Do the red sox have any minor league players that could make the 25 man roster out of spring training?
