Cinco Ranch in the Class 5A state tournament

6:29
Jenny Dial -  Hello all! I know it's football Friday, but I am not at a stadium. Instead I am at Strahan Coliseum at the UIL State Volleyball Tournament, where Cinco Ranch will face Austin Westlake in the 5A semifinals tonight.

It's game 3 of the first 5A semifinal between Georgetown and Amarillo. Amarillo won the first two games, but Georgetown is up 18-9 in Game 3.

Georgetown coach Jenny Richardson is a Houston gal - graduated from Nimitz and coachd at MacArthur before taking the job at Georgetown. She has done an incredible job there. When this one ends, there will be about a 20 minute break, then Cinco Ranch will get underway.

Stay tuned for updates.

Jenny Dial -  Amarillo won the first 5A semifinal in four games over Georgetown and will play for its fourth straight state title on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Cinco Ranch and Westlake will start in about 30 minutes.

Jenny Dial -  OK, the teams are being announced, so the 5A semifinal featuring Cinco Ranch and Westlake will start shortly.
7:38
Jenny Dial -  Westlake take the early 5-2 lead.
7:40
Jenny Dial -  7-5 now Westlake. Cinco Ranch looks a little jittery, but if they calm down, this will stay close.
7:43
Jenny Dial -  12-7 Westlake - timeout Cinco Ranch.
7:48
Jenny Dial -  18-10 Westlake now. The problem for Cinco right now is its back row. They are just not getting the job done. Serving is good, blocking is good and hitting is good. Digging is far from good.
7:54
Jenny Dial -  23-16 Westlake now. Cinco Ranch has had a few good moments - just not enough of them. The back row is definitely looking better.
7:56
Jenny Dial -  Westlake is not an amazing team. I don't feel like they are as good a team as they were last season or in 2007 when they were here, but   they do look like a team that isn't nervous at all to be playing at this point in the postseason.
7:56
Jenny Dial -  The Chaparrals win Game 1 25-18. Cinco definitely improved, but they have to make some big adjustments in this one.
