UFC 100 play-by-play

8:27
Sergio Non -  Welcome to tonight's play-by-play of the UFC 100 pay-per-view broadcast.
8:28
Sergio Non -  We have some preliminary results, courtesy of my colleague Beau Dure, who is at the scene live from Las Vegas:

Sergio Non -  From Beau: The first two bouts saw fighters rendered unconscious by guillotine chokes.

Before more than a handful of fans had entered the Mandalay Bay Events Center, lightweight Shannon Gugerty spent much of the first round of the night against Matt Grice trying to finish off a guillotine choke. Grice fought it off as long as he could and was finally rendered unconscious as referee Herb Dean leaped in to stop the fight at the 2:36 mark.

Tom Lawlor made a colorful entrance to "Who Let the Dogs Out?" with Seth Petruzelli, best known for defeating Kimbo Slice, trotting beside him on all fours with a leash attached for his bout against Ultimate Fighter alum CB Dollaway. The fight was shorter. Dollaway, an accomplished wrestler, went for a takedown but fell straight into the guillotine. A few seconds later, Lawlor yelled up to referee Yves Lavigne that Dollaway was out.

What time does the Lesnar/Mir fight start?
8:29
Sergio Non -  They probably won't hit the cage before 11:30 p.m., if not later.
8:29
Sergio Non -  Depends on how quickly the other fights go.
8:30
Sergio Non -  If everything goes to a decision on the main card, the heavyweight title fight could be pushed past midnight.

Sergio Non -  We also have several polls -- please cast your vote.

Sergio Non -  Tom Lawlor's interview with ESPN Radio 1100/Yahoo Sports' Steve Cofield took much longer than the actual fight with Dollaway, apparently. It's a funny read, feel free to check it out: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/mma/post/2009/07/68494027/1

if mir can push into the later rounds and tire lesnar out he will have a better chance of a submission...
8:40
Sergio Non -  I suspect most people would agree with you, plange
8:42
Sergio Non -  From Beau: Third fight was pretty good -- TJ Grant made a great effort but couldn't hold off Dong Hyun Kim, a fighter we need to start watching

And Jon Jones gets points for using Poe's "Angry Johnny" instead of some hip-hop nonsense

I don't see Lesnar making the same rookie mistakes as the last time. I see Brock dominating this whole fight because of Mir's over confidence.
8:44
Twitterusatmma -  Grant battled well and staved off a guillotine attempt, but that was always going to be Kim's fight. #UFC100
8:44
Sergio Non -  Lesnar definitely won't make the same mistake. I do wonder who benefits more from going into deep waters in the later rounds -- Mir from lesnar's inexperience, or Lesnar from Mir's historic lack of cardio?
