The focus today is on relationships. The site is transitioning from the same faces involved in the partnerships.

Words are posted around the room when they working around these issues: First is
fear
, especially in a new partnership. Then we move into
doubt
: not sure that it will work. Then we move into
trust
within the partnership. Then we
believe
that the change will come and finally, the change occurs.

Carosel: We each have a year of the CFA and we are going to have a minute and think about the word. What comes to mind when we see the word (e.g. Fear)?
3:22
We looked at all these words and shared out about our thoughts. We recognize this as a process that we all generally go through when beginning a new partnership.

We each have a year of the CFA and we are going to code with the symbols of Fear :(, Doubt?, Trust +, Belief
, and Change!
3:27
We are reading and coding. My year is 2006, for the record. They've distributed 5 years of CFAs regarding partnerships at the MSUWTP, from 2005-2009.
3:35
In response to the CFAs, we are discussing any assumptions we had about the reading, questions we have, and issues we saw.
3:49
Some assumptions: there is a story under the story that is not entirely revealed in the CFA; that there is a successful model; there is teacher committment (they get paid to attend); what worked with one group of teachers will work with all teachers; many of the teachers viewed the students as highly deficient in reading and writing; (MWUWTP noted that the newly elected cheif ran on the platform of eliminating all non-Native teachers).
3:52
Questions from the group: Did teachers really understand the student needs? Are they using the same model in other partnerships? How involved were the teachers? Would this have affected the development? How to give teachers a voice? How did the leaders learn how to be sensitive to the population, culture and language issues? How did the WP site support the professional devleopers? How you differentiated the instruction for teachers and teacher assistants? (MSUWTP notes that all the TAs were Native teachers).
