Hello Everyone and Welcome to our Live Flyers Chat!
Let's get things started. We can talk about Simon Gagne and his injury, tonight's game against the Caps, maybe even how the Flyers feel about the Phillies' chances in the World Series. (I asked a few of them about it yesterday).
So fire away with any questions, comments or opinions!

What's up with Gagne's injury?
12:03
Hey Maureen,
We're still waiting word on how Gagne made out yesterday with his ultrasound. He's been having some troubles skating since the start of training camp and he doesn't want this to drag on all season like Danny Briere's injury last season. paul Holmgren has said for weeks that Gagne is fine and Stevens bristled when I suggested two weeks ago that Gagne lacked his normal explosiveness. Now they're acknowledging what Gagne has said, that he's just not right on the ice.
12:04
Right now, it looks like Gagne will sit out tonight;s game and see if the Flyers can improve the strength and flexibility in his right groin and hip area. If I'm the FLyers I let Gagne take as long as he needs.

How about that Van Riemsdyk kid?
12:05
I talked with James and his dad yesterday. He';s gotten off to a great start and I think he'll keep getting better. Problem is James is a Yankees fan and told me hewished the Yanks would win in four!
12:06
Holmgren is picking the Phils in five and has threatened to withhold some of James' bonus money for picking the Yanks.

Aaron Asham is on a hot streak, but played less than 10 minutes against the Sharks. His goals haven't been incredible displays of skill, but they still counted, right?
12:09
Couldn;t agree with you more, Dan. Asham is not your typical goal scorer, but he has decent hands and goes to the net.   But as of yesterday he was back on the third line with Giroux and Carcillo

Have you noticed that the team just barely misses open nets off of great passes 3 or 4 times per game? I feel like there's a 8 or 9 goal game in in the future when these guys start clicking.
12:11
You're right, Orange, the chances are there. I think that was a big focus heading into the season. The Flyers continually got outshot last season, but this year they've outshot opponents something like 7 times in 9 games. The pucks should start goping in for them, especially for Carter who is second in the NHL in shots

[Comment From Glenn]
Why are the Sharks such a difficult opponent? That game Sunday was awful.
12:13
The game was awful, but I donlt think the Flyers were that bad. Once the Sharks got the lead they shut down the neutral zone and the Flyers copuldn;t generate any speed. Boucher was not very sharp and Stevens really let him have it in his press conference. I actually think Boucher should have gotten the start Saturday instead of Sunday
12:13
I found it interesting that Stevens called out his goalie and defended his team, while Chris Pronger caled out his team and defended his goalie!!!
12:14
This is something worth watching this year because as we move forward Pronger will become the real barometer of this team
12:15
[Comment From Dan]
Do you think Stevens will be the coach at the end of the season? Maybe the Flyers will be last year's Penguins and the previous season's Capitals.
12:17
Dan, I said this last week and I'll say it again. If the Flyers are at or below .500 around Thanksgiving, Holmgren will take a poll of his players and see if changes need to be made. If his team is still playing inconsistent a month from now, you could see Craig Berube or John Paddock behind the Flyers' bench.

Do you think with Richards being unwilling to talk to the media that he should be striped of his "C"?
12:20
Richards tried to make a stand and it didn't get him very far. It all started when Joffrey Lupul was asked if the nightlife of the Flyers' young Center City group led to him and Scottie Upshall being traded. Lupul said he thought it had nothing to do with it, we wrote it, and it should have been a dead story.
Instead, Richards boycotted the media and turned a non-story into one, at least between the writers and players.
