[Comment From T-Joe]
What's really behind why the legislators are upset with the Speaker?
1:06
Robert Scott -  The Dept of Revenue will figure out the period for the tax amnesty... we'll be posting you on that when it happens...
1:06
Robert Scott -  Yes, there was some criticism of the Speaker on the last day...;
1:07
Robert Scott -  The chairs of the GOP Caucus, Black Caucus and Dem Caucus all came to the podium to voice conerns
1:07
Robert Scott -  Their main concern was communication ... but I don't think the Speaker, Jim Tucker , is in any deep trouble of losing his position

[Comment From Billy]
When the state bureaucrats demand to get the same money or more than last year do they realize there is global financial problem?
1:10
Robert Scott -  State classified employees have been getting "merit increases" rountiney over the years -- 4% hike -- and this became a big issue during the session
1:11
Robert Scott -  There was a move to freeze the raises for next year, and the civil service commission decided undere pressure -- froma   large crowd of state employees at a meeting-- to cancel the idea of a freeze
1:11
Robert Scott -  But some agencies implementing a freeze anyway --- there were a lot of people who thought the public employees were a little out of touch with what's going on in the private sector...

[Comment From Stuart]
I guess Tucker's MCLNO bill didn't pass?
1:13
Robert Scott -  That's theNew Orlean hosptial governnance bill -- they held it up to get an agreement without resorting to legislation -- but LSU in the end faked them out a bit, and didn't sign the agreement -- by then it was too late to get the legislation thru

[Comment From md]
did the bill concerning lowering the standards to pass to Leap test for 8th graders pass?
1:15
Robert Scott -  Yes, it did. And that's one way of looking at it. Another way is to say that a lot of kids aren't getting the kind of education in the classroom that helps them learn according to their aptitude, and this new program might give them a better learning channel
