SA Senate allocations meeting

8:58
Emily Cahn -  Hey everyone, welcome to The Hatchet's liveblog of the Student Association allocations meeting. We are in 1957 E St. in the State Room on the 7th floor.
9:00
Madeleine Morgenstern -  I'm Madeleine Morgenstern, the Hatchet's SA beat reporter and I'll be contributing to tonight's blog
9:01
Emily Cahn -

The SA Senate is slated to allocate more than $300,000 to student groups tonight. The money being given out is for student organization's operating budgets for the school year.

9:02
Emily Cahn -  Groups have already been notified of the amount in initial allocations that they have received from the SA, however if they are unhappy with the amount they were allocated, they can come to the meeting tonight to petition the SA for more funds.
9:04
Madeleine Morgenstern -  To set the scene for those not here, the senate is grouped around a parabola-shaped round with three graduated levels
9:04
Madeleine Morgenstern -  Senators each have a microphone and handy little electronic vote recorders

[Comment From James]
are their enough people in the room to justify the SA spending the 350 dollars on the state room?
9:07
Emily Cahn -  Nearly every seat in the room is taken. There are not that many seats for spectators.
9:07
Emily Cahn -  This is the same room the Board of Trustees meet in for their meetings throughout the year.
9:08
Emily Cahn -  The meeting has yet to begin. Everyone is in their seats ready to go, though.
