Good evening. We want to welcome Diana Pappin, Richmond Common Councl member and Sam Lahanis, director of the Richmond Sanitation District, to discuss the proposed rate and fee hikes.
Let me kick off here by asking for a little overview on these proposed increases and why the Sanitation District feels they are needed. Sam, I guess that would be for you.

Sam Lahanis -  The increased rates are being proposed to secure funding for pr ject srelated to an Agreed Order between the City of Richmond and IDEM.

Can you tell us a little about those rates and fee hikes -- how they will affect that average homeowner in Richmond?

Sam Lahanis -  The typical user 5000 gal per month will see an increase of about $8.00 per month or around $100 per year.

Dale McConnaughay -  The Richmond Sanitation Board has approved these and they now go to council. Diana, can you tell us a little about the procedure there ... how the public can be heard if people wantto weigh in.
