TV chat with critics Matthew Gilbert and Joanna Weiss -- Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at noon

12:01
Joanna -  Hi everyone!
12:01
Joanna -  Matthew is on vacation this week, so you've got me alone today.
12:02
Joanna -  One warning: I watched a fair amount of baseball this week. (Sniff. I was hoping Pedro would do something different in Yankee Stadium last night.)
12:03
Joanna -  And one announcement: As of Nov. 16, I'll be leaving the TV beat. I'm not going far - just over to the op-ed page of the Globe, where I'll be writing a weekly column. I'll still be keeping an eye on pop culture, and I'm sure I'll find a way to write about Adam Lambert.
12:03
Joanna -  And you'll be in good hands over here!
12:03
Joanna -  So...forthwith...

[Comment From M]
Where did Mia Michaels go on So You Think You Can Dance?
12:04
Joanna -  Mia announced that she won't be doing the show this year, so she can concentrate on other choreography projects, which include some work on the Canadian version of SYTYCD.
12:04
Joanna -  I'm going to miss her crazy choreography.
12:04
Joanna -  But I think Travis Wall is ready to fill her shoes. Seriously. I love his stuff.
12:04
Joanna -  And of course, I'm on the record adoring Adam Shankman.

[Comment From tricia]
what do you think we will see with this week's "Mad Men" finale???
12:05
Joanna -  Last week, as you know, was the big Kennedy assassination episode.
12:05
Joanna -  It was called "The Grown-ups," a fitting title, because it began by showing us many of the characters behaving like petulant children, and it ended with many of them showing maturity -- or making some serious life decisions.
12:06
Joanna -  The big question is the aftermath of Betty's revelation that she doesn't love Don anymore.
12:06
Joanna -  I wasn't personally stirred so much...I think Betty probably would be happier with someone else, and Don, too. But it looks like he's going to still try to hold onto the dream of the picture-perfect marriage, instead of running straight to Miss Farrell's arms.
12:07
Joanna -  So I expect some direction on that front. At least, I hope for it.
12:07
[Comment From Guest]
Joanna, what'd you think of "V"? I couldn't help but feel that the political overtones were a bit forced.
12:07
Joanna -  That's a tricky thing with science fiction. It's so clearly allegorical that sometimes it feels like it's konking you over the head.
12:08
Joanna -  That said, I liked the pilot - thought the aliens were suitably creepy, and I'm interested in seeing how they roll out the infiltration. And Elizabeth Mitchell generally kicks butt.
