In regards to the cold office situation, I'd say layers. Keep a cardigan at the ready, or better still a blazer.

Alice Olins - Hello One Chic Mama, I would say that summer boots are probably the most practical answer. Look for short booties that you can wear with skirts.

Chic Mama, another great idea that will pick up on the coming autumn trends it to buy a pair of brogues, wear without socks with rolled up jeans. Hope this helps!

How do you cheer yourself up with clothes when it is so damp and cool ? all magazines full of pictures of clothes for the mediterranean

Alice Olins - Antonia, I cheer myself up by wearing summer dresses over tights and leggings. That way at least your summer wardrobe gets an outing, also make sure you still wear lots of colour
