Northwestern Football vs. Penn State

3:03
Nathan Lipkin -  Hi everybody. This is Nathan Lipkin reporting live from Ryan Field as the 'Cats prepare to host Penn State in a crucial game. With a big upset today, Northwestern would be bowl eligible, while Penn State looks to make its case for the Rose Bowl.
3:07
Alexandra Baum -  This is Alex Baum, alongside Nathan. It's a brisk and windy afternoon as Northwestern hosts its parents weekend. Hopefully the 'Cats can pull an upset to make the trips worth it.
3:12
Nathan Lipkin -  We'll have more coming your way as it gets closer to game time.
3:32
Nathan Lipkin -  The 'Cats will start the game with the ball. After a Stephen Simmons return, the 'Cats will start at their own 12-yard line. An impressive return was called back by a holding penalty.
3:34
Alexandra Baum -

Mike Kafka just drops the ball on the snap and Penn State recovers. Another slow start for the 'Cats. Hopefully they won't spot the Nittany Lions some points.

3:39
Nathan Lipkin -  Penn State's on the board after a field goal. An impressive start to the day for the 'Cats defense. Ricky Weina is doing a great job filling in for an injured Sherrick McManis, even though he's being thrown to early.

[Comment From Randy B]
You can't make those kind of mistakes against Penn State. Too many weapons!
3:42
Nathan Lipkin -  Northwestern will start over at its own 18-yard line. Kafka's first pass is a nice play to Scott Concannon. Hopefully the mental errors will be avoided.
3:46
Alexandra Baum -  An illegal substitution penalty on fourth down keeps the drive alive. Northwestern has a first down at the Nittany Lions 42-yard line. Looks like Penn State can make mistakes, too.

HUGE PENALTY!!!
3:53
Nathan Lipkin -  Stefan Demos will tie it up at 3-3. It's early, but it's great to see Northwestern playing a decent first half for once. Let's keep it going on the kickoff and defense.
4:02
Alexandra Baum -

After a great defensive stand, Northwestern will start over at its own 20-yard line with eight seconds left in the first quarter. Kafka will throw to Drake Dunsmore for a first down to end the quarter. Great start for the 'Cats!

4:10
Nathan Lipkin -  TOUCHDOWN 'CATS! Kafka has a tremendous drive, throwing all over the Lions defense and coming up with a huge run for a first down and another for a touchdown. 10-3 Northwestern leads! Let's play some defense now!
4:13
Alexandra Baum -  Penn State will start on its own 34-yard line after a Demos kickoff. Let's see if the 'Cats can keep up this impressive defensive effort.
4:20
Nathan Lipkin -  Another Penn State drive, another solid defensive effort for the Wildcats. After a fair catch by Andrew Brewer, Kafka and the 'Cats will start over at their own 16-yard line.
4:26
Nathan Lipkin -  Stefan Demos can't handle the snap on the punt, avoids a couple tackles and flicks it forward to Mark Woodsum for the first down! What an amazing play!
4:33
Nathan Lipkin -  Mike Kafka's been out the last couple plays - it looks like he's dinged up. Dan Persa does a decent job in his place but the drive sputters just across midfield. The Nittany Lions will start at their own 7-yard line after a solid Demos punt.
4:40
Alexandra Baum -  After a series of nice passes by Daryll Clark, Penn State scores its first touchdown on a Clark scramble. It's tied up at 10 with 3:39 left in the half.
4:43
Nathan Lipkin -  Stephen Simmons returns it to the Penn State 41-yard line! Simmons has made huge strides in our return game and Persa has a shot at putting some more points on the board.
4:47
Nathan Lipkin -  Penn State blocks the Demos field attempt and will start over at its own 20-yard line with just under a minute left in the half. It's time to play some defense and not have another meltdown.
