Why did you decide to open your own business in a recession?

I didn't really think about it being a recession. I just knew that I had the experience and it was time for me to go out on my own.

I'm thinking about starting a VA business. I've been told to do it alone and I've been told to join a company first like VAusa, do you have any thoughts on this?

Jeanine Hamilton - HI Maureen,
I'm not familiar with a VA business however I think joining any kind of association for advice, mentorship and ideas is a good way to learn if you want to go it alone.

I asked for advice from many people. Some from the staffing industry, some from other industries, family etc. I am also very lucky to have a mentor that I've known for years who's advice I value tremendously

Harold,
I think my biggest challenge was figuring out the right time to dive in and start. Owning your own business is a huge committment of time and resources and you have to be 100% invested in it..
