Eric Crawford -  Okay, we're up and running. Thanks for jumping in. Your comments and questions are welcome. A reminder that this is a moderated discussion. So you won't necessarily see your posts appear right away, but I'll try to get to as many as I can.

Do you think there too many Breeder's Cup races now?
10:03
Eric Crawford -  Absolutely, and in fact, that's what I'm writing about tomorrow. I don't think the event needs to stretch beyond one day. I could live with a 10-race card in one day. Fourteen is far too many. I was looking, and between the Juvenlie Turf and Juvenile fillies turf last year, of the 24 starters, there was only one graded stakes winner this year. So, yes. There are too many.

I was really put off by Kragthorpes comment about Gruden. Not that I want Gruden, but this guy has wrecked our program and is making millions to do it. Is there any way he's gone sooner than season's end?
10:05
Eric Crawford -  I don't think so. Frankly, I keep hearing people say it was such a "funny" comment, I didn't even think it was all that clever. It reminded me of the kind of awkward thing Michael Scott might say on the office.

Regardless, if he wants to crack jokes, I don't know that that's the subject I'd pick, if I were him.

I didn't have a big problem with it, but I understand why some fans would.

What will the WVU-Louisville be? What is the percentage chance that Kragthorpe will return in 2010? Thanks for your great insight.
10:06
Eric Crawford -  I think WVU should beat the 20-point spread. I give Kragthorpe a less than 10 percent chance.

How did you think the Cards looked in the last b-ball game?
10:07
Eric Crawford -  Craig, I'm in Los Angeles for the Breeders' Cup, so I didn't get to see the Bellarmine game. (No TV out here!) Sounds like they made some progress.

Even before I left, I was ready to say that Siva has a shot to be starting before too long this season, based on what I'd seen of him and Sosa so far.

Comment: I was more put off by Kragthorpe's comment about Ryan Payne than about John Gruden. A bit of a low blow in my opinion.
10:09
Eric Crawford -  I was most put off by Kragthorpe's swipe at Payne immediately after the Arkansas State game, explaining why he didn't go for a field goal at the end of the first half by pointing out the two missed field goals in the second.

This ignores the fact that the field goal in question was little more than an extra point. Given that logic, why keep kicking extra points?

Question: Has Louisville named a starting QB for Saturday?
10:09
Eric Crawford -  I don't believe so, Scott.
10:11
Eric Crawford -  Don't know if anyone saw the USA Today story on the Pitino-Calipari rivalry, but found Tom Jurich's quote in there interesting.
10:12
Eric Crawford -  "They had the same buzz two years ago," Louisville athletics director Tom Jurich says. "Remember when they were recruiting eighth-graders?"

This guy is a complete clown. All the weed and injuries in the world didn't make him throw the ball twice and give Ark St a chance to come back and tie the game. He should be coaching a girls powder puff team.

Are you surprised that Zenyatta was made the favorite in the Classic considering she hasn't run against older males?
10:13
Eric Crawford -  No, not surprised. But I don't think she's going to win it. That race has a lot of really good horses -- 10 Grade I winners -- but it's one of those that I keep looking at the form and saying, "I don't think any of them can win!"   I picked Rip Van Winkle on Monday, but he has foot problems so I don't think you can pick him. Love Summer Bird but he hasn't run on the synthetic.

I believe a fit Rachel Alexandra would beat them all.

[Comment From Craig]
Well UK is going to win games it more a question of if they get to keep them after the season.
10:15
Eric Crawford -  Also think it's strange that Pitino keeps calling his program "the top revenue producer in college basketball." While true, it's also not something you hang banners for. Not sure why he keeps hitting that tone, but he's now done it twice lately.
