Inside the OPEC bunker

11:03
TwitterreutersBarbaraL -  Greetings from a Vienna hotel room, which we call our bunker -- our command centre for coverage of #OPEC talks.
11:06
TwitterreutersBarbaraL -  #OPEC While our reporters lurk in luxurious hotel lobbies as ministers arrive, I and another editor will take down their news alerts
11:39
Commodity Corner -  Hello from Will,  the faceless filer in the Reuters #OPEC bunker. Those unlucky enough still to be traumatised by the all -night session of last September's meeting will know that Ramadan will dominate the deliberations of oil ministers at   this one too. Offical Viennese sunset is 1924 local time (1724 gmt) - http://www.zamg.ac.at/klima/sonne_mond/?ts=1252314721
12:12
Commodity Corner -  For our latest Reuters blog from Barbara on late night perils http://blogs.reuters.com/commodity-corner/2009/09/07/burning-midnight-oil-can-yield-surprise-outcomes/
12:18
TwitterreutersSimonW -  Hello from Simon, one of the reporting team in Vienna, prowling a hotel lobby to catch #OPEC ministers' ruminating on oil and the economy.
12:26
TwitterreutersSimonW -  #OPEC ministers want the oil price low enough to encourage the global economy and high enough to bankroll their own domestic expansion.
12:32
TwitterreutersSimonW -  With G20 leaders meeting soon, #OPEC will be mindful of taking action that big consumers might see as harming efforts to heal the economy
2:06
Commodity Corner -

Simon and Henrique Almeida, our reporters in Dubai and Angola respectively, give an overview of the upcoming #OPEC meeting http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE5862A620090907

3:18
TwitterreutersBarbaraL -  The long wait for #OPEC ministers drags on, with none expected until late this evening
4:15
TwitterreutersSimonW -  It's mid-afternoon and the pianist is playing to a near empty and calm lobby. As oil ministers arrive, calm will become chaos.
4:31
TwitterreutersSimonW -  Muslim #OPEC delegates will end a long day of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan with a meal, Iftar, after sunset
8:16
OPEC bunker -

Kuwait's oil minister arrives in Vienna but sweeps past reporters with little comment. Before his flight here he had said that there was wide agreement in the group not to cut. Arriving at his hotel he also refuted the suggestion of any increase. Looks like another vote for unchanged.

3:29
TwitterreutersAlexL -  Morning from a deserted hotel lobby in Vienna. Deserted, that is, except for reporters awaiting the Saudi oil minister's arrival for #OPEC
3:50
TwitterreutersSimonW -  Comments from #OPEC's and the world's biggest oil exporter are keenly watched in oil markets. That's why we're up before dawn to hear them.
4:23
TwitterreutersAlexL -  The Saudi oil min says the market's in good shape, a sign #OPEC's top producer is unlikely to call for any major change at the meeting
4:25
TwitterreutersSimonW -  Saudi says consumers and producers are happy with oil prices. "With a price ranging between $68 and $73, what else do you want?" Naimi said
4:28
TwitterreutersSimonW -  Time to grab some more sleep for the team in the lobby, it promises to be a long day with many #OPEC ministers arriving this afternoon.
8:56
OPEC bunker -  Another golden morning in Vienna - they call it Kaiserwetter here. No more oil ministers expected until early afternoon. Naimi resting after his dead-of-night arrival.
9:21
TwitterreutersBarbaraL -  Hotel lobby's #OPEC press corner very sleepy so far. Reporters recovering from nocturnal snapping.
9:22
TwitterreutersBarbaraL -  Have to admire Saudi oil minister's energy. He spoke to press at nearly 5am after a flight, a Cabinet metting and a day of fasting. #OPEC
