What/Who motivates you to be so soulful whenever you're singing?
4:03
Anoop Desai -  It's just sort of the type of music that I like listening to. I've always tried to emmulate Boyz II Men and sort of the early '90s R&B groups that I grew up with. But for me it's about conveying emotion when you sing. I think that's the most important thing about singing. I just try to do that every time I get on stage.

Honestly in terms of vocal singing ability how would you rank yourself among the top 13 finalists? Here's a hint. I think you're number one! ;)
4:04
Anoop Desai -  Well, I think the thing with this group is that we're all so different. So, comparing vocal ability, for me, it doesn't really work that way just because there's such a diversity of styles and diversity of talent. You just have to master your style and be the best you can. I think everyone here was very, very talented and I'm happy to be included in that group.

Have you started thinking about or writing songs?
4:05
Anoop Desai -  I've started thinking about songs. I was never really a writer, and so for me it's sort of beginning to write and co-write. And just seeing where that takes me. I think that's going to be an important element of my career and my future. I'm sort of getting started now.

Where you always interested in being a singer as a kid?
4:06
Anoop Desai -  As a kid, it was just something that I enjoyed doing and gradually I realized I was pretty good at it. But it was never by career path until I got to college. that's when I realized it's what I have fun doing and what I do the best. That's when I took a real interest, when I was in the Clef Hangers at UNC.

What advice given to you over the years has motivated you the most, Anoop?
4:07
Anoop Desai -  I think my parents telling me to do what I love, because that's always been my motivation going forward, and to have this opportunity to do what I love the most, and actually being recognized for it, it means a lot to me, but at the same time I know I'm able to do this because of the advice that my parents gave me.

Hi Anoop! You are extremely talent and a great performer! All the girls want to know, what qualities do you look for in a girlfriend?
4:07
Anoop Desai -  Someone that makes me laugh, and sort of has a very similar sense a humor to mine. Someone that's smart, obviously someone that's good looking... I don't know. It really depends on the person. I don't think I really have a type, the people I'm generally to are people first.

Who were you closest to in your Idol group?
4:09
Anoop Desai -  We never really had any time where there was just a couple of us. We did everything as a group, so our relationships with each other were as a group and we enjoyed everyone's company. So I'm not sure that I was closer to anyone in particular, I just love hanging out with these people because each has a different personlity trait that I really enjoy. When we're all together, I think it really comes out.
