Wednesday Live Chat

3:30
Joe Fortenbaugh -  Welcome to the Wednesday live chat with Andrew Brandt everyone!
3:31
Joe Fortenbaugh -  Andrew is here for the next 30 minutes to take all of your questions.
3:32
Joe Fortenbaugh -  Andrew, why dont we start by talking about the DeMarcus Ware deal and how that will affect the free agent market for defensive ends/outside linebackers this offseason.
3:33
andrew brandt -

Sure, Joe.  The Ware deal may be the best non-quarterback deal done.  It has enormous guarantees, about 40M, and an average of over 13M a year.  We all expected a big deal from that team and for that player, but this exceeded my expectations.  The market has risen once again

3:34
Joe Fortenbaugh -  Is part of the reason for Ware's big contract the fact that Dallas has cut spending lately?
3:35
[Comment From Dell Horn]
Doesn't it seem as if John Fox is "going to the Dance with the one that brought him" standing a little tight to Delhome and going to go dow witht he ship?
3:35
andrew brandt -  Dallas was one of the NFL's top spending teams in 2008 but had lagged to the bottom two or three in 2009 before this deal.  One thing about the Cap is that teams can't spend at the top every year or the Cap will catch up with them.  Even the Redskins don't do that.
3:36
andrew brandt -  Dell-
The Panthers extended Delhomme this year.  They have a lot of investment there, not going to give up on that yet.
3:37
Joe Fortenbaugh -

With an investment like the one the Panthers made in Delhomme, at what part to you have to start thinking about moving on?

3:38
andrew brandt -  Tough to say, as they have not invested in a plan beyond Delhomme.  Until they have a young player they are grooming to take on that role, going to be hard to try out someone else.
