The AMA is the most influential physician lobbying group, but nowhere near as strong as they were a few decades ago.   But, as it stands, Obama is taking the time to address their convention...

So, while I don't think they'll be ignored, their lobbying impact likely won't be as effective as they would like.   Also, the physician's lobby is splintered...

With a sizable number of doctors supporting groups like PNHP who often will take a diametrically opposed view to those of the AMA.

Single-payer sitll divides doctors, despite the polls that PNHP has led the public to believe.   There are many, myself included, that oppose such a plan.   A Medicare-for-all will also have a bureaucrat involving themselves in medical decisions, in that case, it's simply just one from the government . . .
