SignOnSanDiego - Taxes ... everybody loves to talk about taxes. What do you say to people who suggest that the government should be doing more with what they have instead of raiding the voters' pockets?

DeanCalbreath - Ahh. Taxes. Yeah, I wrote a column on Sunday suggesting that the government could raise a little money by putting higher taxes on oil companies, tobacco and auto fees, while taking back some of the recently enacted tax cuts for multibillion-dollar corporations.

DeanCalbreath - But your question is should the government be doing more with what it already has. And the short answer is, yes.

DeanCalbreath - I get feedback every time I write about taxes.

DeanCalbreath - And the fact is that in many ways, Californians are overtaxed.
