[Comment From Isobel]
Hi, Alice! Could you give me some advice for women who have lost a lot of weight and need to start from scratch with their winter wardrobe...without breaking their bank? Thanks!

Alice Olins -  Isobel, well done you. I'm thinking you want one thing for the day and one for night. A good day piece that is uber versatile is a long cardigan. Wear it buttoned up with leggings and boots, or open over a dress. Look at this gorgeous one from Sara Berman. It's a little pricy but great quality.   Now, for evening...

Alice Olins -  Much cheaper is a sequinned cardigan. You can wear it over dresses, with jeans or leggings and it'll give you a bit of razzmatazz without too much effort. There are hundreds on the highstreet. This one from Wallis (£40) is very sweet. The Sara Berman is £179 www.saraberman.com. Hope that helps!

Alice Olins -  Isobel, silly mistake from me, the sequins are from Debenhams, not Wallis. Oops!

[Comment From Angeline Malik]
Hello, what are the staples for the winter wardbrobe that we should all be wearing?

Alice Olins -  Angeline, I think everyone needs a good pair of boots (flat, or heeled depending on how strong your ankles are), a blazer, a big scarf, maybe some worn in denim and a big winter coat.   I have just invested in ear muffs too, but obviously that is subject to preference!
