Hi. About 7 years ago, I had Guillan-Barre Syndrome, which left me paralyzed for about 6 months, and I have made a near complete recovery. Ever since then, my primary doctor has told me NOT to get the seasonal Flu bug, and I took his advice. However, this H1N1 flu scare has me worried. With what I told you above, is it right for me to think about getting this vaccine? Thank you in advance.

Certainly Guillan-Barre  is very serious and something you want to take into consideration.   Not know you specifically and all the details of your experience, I would certainly encourage you to contact your physician regarding this specific situation.   Considering Guillan-Barre has lasting concerns you certainly don't want to chance going against his recommendation on this.   If you have a specific Neurologist you worked with he may be your best contact.   Hopefully this helps!

I am really concerned about not being able to receive the vaccine here in boone county. I have a four year old daughter and a 16 year old daughter and I can find the vaccine no where. I do not understand why we have not gotten here, when ohio has gotten theirs. Is there an increased risk of us getting it because the surrounding areas have been vaccinated and we have not

With all the attention the H1N1 has received there are many concerns about the vaccine and people are very anxious to get there vaccine as soon as possible.   If you have a specific Health Dept in your area I would encourage you to contact them to find out when it might be available.   The area Health Departments are the ones that are handling all the vaccines and they would certinly be your best resource.   Some physicians office may choose to get it in but there are many who are choosing not to and leave it up to the Health Dept's.

I heard they will be giving the HINI "shots" in the schools. Is this true? Should we wait?

They are giving it in the schools.   At this point the school and the community Health Departments are targeting those in the high risk group.   So the children that have received it already in some schools are those that meet that catagory.   After each county has given the vaccines in that catagory their vaccines they will then open it up to other individuals.   Each county of residence is handling that in a slightly different time-line depending on when they receive their shipment.   I know this can also cause some anxiety but it is being handling, again, as quickly as that supply is available to those county health depts.

Hi I was wondering what exactly is in the H1N1 vaccine? I am told if you have a severe egg allergy or if you are allergic to anything else in the vaccine not to get it, but I am not sure what else is in it
