Linda Austin -  Good morning! Welcome to this live blog of "Covering the 2009 Financial World: New Rules, New President" at Columbia College in Chicago.

My name is Linda Austin. I am the executive director of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism, which is presenting today's workshop. I'll be your host for today's blog of the workshop. We have an exceptional group of journalists signed up for this daylong workshop, and we hope more will join in online.

Today's workshop is being hosted by Columbia College in downtown Chicago, and it doesn't get anymore authentically Chicago than when you can see the El right outside its building.

Our first speaker, getting started about 9:15 a.m. CDT will be James Gentry.
